About us
Pigmentori came into being in the summer of 2024 — as a small but very personal project of two people who simply wanted to paint without constant irritation from their tools.
We weren’t a big company with investors and marketing departments. We were two artists (one of us has been painting for over 15 years, the other for about 8) who one day sat together at a paint-covered table trying to figure out why good brushes were either ridiculously expensive or became unusable after a month. That’s when we simply decided: let’s make them the way we ourselves would find convenient. No middlemen, no extra layers, no promises of “changing your life in 30 days”. Just quality brushes that don’t let you down on the third hour of work.
Our mission is very simple and almost mundane: to give artists tools that don’t get in the way of thinking about the idea.
We believe the best paintings are born not when you have the most expensive set, but when your hand feels the tool as a natural extension of yourself. When the brush doesn’t slip, doesn’t shed, doesn’t lose shape after several sessions and doesn’t force you to constantly fix it. That’s why we spend so much time testing — not in a lab, but in real conditions: on the kitchen table, on the balcony, on a train, in a small rented studio.
We don’t aim to become “the biggest brush brand in the world”. What matters more to us is remaining the people who actually paint themselves and understand what an artist feels when a brush suddenly “gives up” in the middle of an important layer. That’s why every Pigmentori set contains only what we use ourselves and what has gone through our hands dozens of times.
Why brushes specifically, and not something else? Because we both lived through the moment when, after yet another disappointing brush, one of us said: “You know, I just don’t want to spend any more time fighting my tools. I just want to paint.” And we realized — if we need this, then probably many others do too.
Right now Pigmentori is still the two of us + a few people who help with packing, logistics, and small technical things. We don’t have an office with glass walls, no showroom, and no plans to open a chain of stores. We work online because that lets us stay closer to the people who support us and respond faster to your emails and wishes.
Our values can fit into a few sentences:
- honesty in materials and characteristics
- comfort above all (in the hand, in the work, in cleaning)
- predictability — so you know how the brush will behave before you even open the package
- reasonable variety of shapes, not just “more is better”
- respect for your time and money
We don’t promise that after our brushes you will become a famous artist. But we do everything possible so you can paint longer, calmer, and with more pleasure — without unnecessary obstacles from the tool itself.
Pigmentori is not about scale. It’s about that quiet moment when you pick up a brush, make the first stroke, and think: “Oh, this is how it was supposed to feel.”
We are here for exactly that moment. And we are very glad you’re with us.
